Disclosure and Barring Service acknowledge delays
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) aim to complete 80% of enhanced checks within 14 days, however they acknowledge that over the last few months, DBS applications seem to betaking longer to be completed.
This is due to applications that need to be referred to the police service. Although police performance remains strong, some forces are processing work outside the normal timescales expected.
There are currently 7 Local Police Forces that the DBS are working with on recovery plans, these forces are Derbyshire, Dyfed Powys, Hampshire, Kent, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Sussex.
HR Connect continue to escalate checks that have been outstanding with the DBS for over 60 days. After a further 10 days the DBS will then chase the relevant police force every 2 weeks until a DBS result is returned.
HR Connect have no control on the DBS processing times however continue to ensure checks are escalated as soon possible to prevent further delays. For more information, download an Info Sheet from the DBS here >>
