Ongoing Police Force delays with DBS applications
Over the past few months, the DBS have been reporting on known police force days resulting in DBS applications taking longer than usual. Despite initial progress, the DBS have now confirmed that at least 5 police forces are not expected to return to normal processing times until June 2024.
Although most forces have performed well over the last 3 months, Derbyshire, Dyfed Powys, Hampshire, Kent and Sussex are not expected to return to within SLA by the end of March 2024 as previously advised. Their performance across the last 3 months suggests they are now unlikely to recover due to issues including recruitment and retention of staff, local police systems issues and DBS system downtime. HR Connect continue to escalate checks that have been outstanding with the DBS for over 60 days. After a further 10 days the DBS will then chase the relevant police force every 2 weeks until a DBS result is returned. HR Connect have no control on the DBS processing times however continue to ensure checks are escalated as soon possible to prevent further delays.
