School Teachers’ Pay Review Body
The Secretary of State for Education has recently issued the remit letter for the School Teachers’ Pay Review Body (STRB) for the 2024 pay cycle.

Besides making a pay recommendation for pay award which will be effective in September 2024, the STRB have also been invited to put forward proposals in relation to targeted renumeration for certain subject areas as a tool to address recruitment and retention concerns.
The other broader structural issues which the STRB were invited to make recommendations on last year – do not form part of the 2024 remit. We will need to wait and see whether any of the previous proposals made by the review body are taken forward for implementation by the Government.
The review body will collect evidence and submissions from a range of stakeholders before reporting back to the Government in May. As in previous years we are likely to have to wait until July before the Government’s response is published and any pay award for September 2024 is announced.
