SHOUT is a text messaging support service, available 24/7 which recently reached a sobering milestone of two million conversations.
With more than half of Shout texters being children and young people struggling with thoughts of suicide and self harm, it continues to highlight the challenges faced by our young people. It therefore isn’t surprising to learn that 48% of educators reported an increase in pastoral duties to support the welfare of pupils Teaching: the new reality (educationsupport.org.uk)
Staff Care Services, as part of our annual SupportLine service, are proud to partner with Shout.
If you notice a change in yourself, a colleague or a pupil utilise the SupportLine service to benefit from a confidential safe space to start a conversation about how you are feeling and identify a plan of support going forwards. Sitting alongside our SupportLine Structured Counselling Service, SHOUT provides a free, confidential 24/7 text messaging support service. It can be accessed by any member of staff or pupil in your school who is struggling to cope. SHOUT’s trained volunteers are available around the clock to support anyone who is suicidal, depressed, anxious or overwhelmed. The service is anonymous and does not show up on phone bills.
