What Does The Employment Rights Bill Mean for You?
This month sees the presentation of our Live Webinar delving into the changes to be brought about by the Employment Rights Bill and the impact this will have on the education sector. The webinar will take place on Wednesday 27th November 12.15-13.00pm
The Bill has been described as one of the most extensive updates to UK employment law in decades.
During the webinar we will be exploring the following changes and considering how they will impact on your Schools, Academies and Trusts:
- Removal of the 2 year qualifying period for unfair dismissal claims
- The aim to make it automatically unfair to dismiss an employee for refusing a variation to their contract and so removing the practice of ‘fire and rehire’
- Extending the meaning of ‘establishment’ with regards to collective redundancy rights
- Enhancing the protection from harassment, including the implementation of liability for third party harassment, and increasing the required duty to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace
- How employers can refuse a request for flexible working
- Proposals to strengthen pregnancy, maternity and family leave protections
- The aim to introduce changes to zero-hour contracts
- Strengthening of Trade Union rights
- The collective negotiating bodies for school support staff
- Strengthening Statutory Sick Pay
Consultation on the reforms will begin in 2025, and therefore it is important you are fully aware of the reforms, especially given the extent of them, and to start preparing for any changes you are able to now.
